Episode 18
1. Ive been taught that Jesus was 100% God and 100% Man, I don’t doubt that, although I am curious as to why Jesus would need to be ministered too by angels.(matthew 4:11) What could Angels teach the Son of God - Noah
2. Hi Pastor Adam, Not sure if this was asked previously - apologies it was already asked. My question was about interpreting the bible in the historical context or modern context. The culture, customs etc were vastly different during the times the different books were written.
3.Some of the teachings are relevant to the customs of those times, but would be totally out of place in today's world. Take the role of women in society (or church specifically)for example - women were expected to provide a supportive and obedient role, and any leadership role was actively discouraged. Even Paul discouraged women to have an active leadership role in the church. And that was ok because it reflected the prevailing customs of that time. However - how do we reconcile these teachings in the modern context? Do you think we should adapt the teachings of the bible to better reflect modern context? Or should we just take the spirit of teachings and the message and apply to the modern context ? Would love to hear your thoughts! BTW: I loved your message today about Jesus' interaction with the Samaritan woman by the well - Jesus was really beyond his times, engaging with a woman and considering her worthy of his time - talking about the nature of worship and revealing he was the Messiah, to the surprise of his disciples. And this question was triggered by that message, Pastor! - Raju
4.My question is about preaching and evangelizing to the Gentiles - did Jesus include the gentiles during his preachings? From all accounts in the Gospels, Jesus' focus was on the Jews during his teachings (although he did ask his disciples to spread the Gospel around the world in the end ). Was the idea of gentiles being included start with Peter's vision, and then Paul's travels and teachings? - Raju
5. The promise at Jesus birth was ‘peace on earth’ yet there are wars raging… isn’t that a false prophecy? From Tony from San Mateo
6. How can church be relevant still when it’s thousands of years old… nothing else from that time is relevant From Monty
7. How many prophecies did the birth, life and death of Jesus fulfill? How do we know - if you include the non-cannon books, are there even more we don’t traditionally know about?
